Direct Purchase Stocks

So you are looking into direct purchase stocks? This method obviously has benefits and drawbacks. Here’s some information to help you decide if this is the right avenue for you to being pursuing your investment plans.

First of all, there are two ways to invest in stocks: either buy them through a broker who makes the transaction for you, or purchase them directly from the company itself.

Nowadays, most companies offer an option to buy their stocks directly through them, enabling you to bypass the broker and their sometimes hefty fees. However, there are obvious drawbacks to this method as well.

If you are at all unsure of what you are doing, don’t even consider direct purchase stocks. Yes, a broker can be expensive, but they can also provide you with some valuable advice on which stocks to invest in, without you having to know this yourself.

The biggest advantage of a broker as opposed to direct purchase stocks is their experience in investing. Often times, they have hundreds of clients understand them, and are very good at spotting deals you very well might miss.

Be careful when choosing a broker for your investment needs, however. Often times, a broker will try to hype their clients on a new ‘hot stock tip’ so they can lure them into making another transaction and giving them more commission. When choosing an investor, it’s imperative you find one you know you can trust.

With that said, the bottom line is you need to decide for yourself if you are experienced enough to direct purchase stocks. If you’ve been trading for a while and have some experience, you probably know enough to attempt this.

If, however, you are either a newbie or simply haven’t experienced much success with your endeavors, it’s probably best to get a broker, at least at first while you are learning the investing world.
