When considering buying stocks direct, make absolutely sure you know what you’re doing before even considering this avenue of stock purchasing. When it comes to buying stocks, there are two methods you can do: go through a stock broker who buys the stock for you, or do it yourself.

There are many website that will allow you to buy stocks directly form the company you are interested in without having to go through a broker.

However, when considering buying stocks direct, here some things you need to consider. First of all, how experienced of an investor are you?

If you have little or no investing experience, it is always wise to have a broker to advice you on the best stock to buy. Many people have lost fortunes because of poor investment choices, and this can easily happen to you without good advice.

Second, does the company you want even offer an option to purchase stocks directly from them? While more and companies do offer an option for buying stocks direct, some do not. Make sure of this before attempting to purchase their shares.

Obviously, the major selling point of this method if the cost effectiveness of not having to go through a broker. Broker will generally do research for you, and give suggestions on which stock to invest in or you, and take a commissions on each transaction you make through them.

For this reason, many brokers try to convince their clients to make as many transactions as possible to increase their commission. If you do plan on going with a broker, be absolutely sure you can trust them, and most importantly, make sure they are also successful investors themselves.

There are many brokers out there today who don’t know enough to invest their own money, but are more than happy to give others investment advice. Be careful in making this decision.

The bottom line: if you have done your research, have already made a few transactions with the stock market and feel at least reasonably comfortable with the prices, buying stock direct is a wise option. However, if you are a newbie and inexperienced at picking stocks, going with a broker is probably best, at least for the first time or two.
